HEAL is a hikoi that myself and hapu mama walk along together, side by side. This model is completely women focused allowing her to make her own decisions and set her own goals. We continue on this hikoi together until we have the best possible outcome from the decisions she has made and the goals that she has set……this kaupapa will not set her up to fail if you as a professional allow her to lead the way. Addressing her needs minimises risk.
HEAL is built on a professional friendship rather than a clinical or medical focus. It focusses on building a relationship of trust with our hapu mama and places them at the centre to empower a plan and outcome that they are the main driver of. Every hapu mama that I have worked with implementing HEAL into her life has been successful no matter how big or small, the first success is that she is engaging!
When a women’s mana/wairua/ihi has been taken from her, HEAL will mend it and bring it back. HEAL enables her to transform through her own kaupapa and goal setting with the support and open discussions between myself and herself. I become the scaffolding around her to provide a protective barrier between her and other service providers that she has lost faith in because she felt she has not been “heard”. This returns her to her own kaha and empowers her to regain the mana that she was rightfully born with.
“HEAL” IS POWERFUL WHEN YOU HAVE THE WOMAN’S TRUST…….TRUST IS THE FOUNDATION, UNDERSTANDING HER SITUATION AND ENVIRONMENT IS PARAMOUNT AND THE TIME THAT YOU DEDICATE TO HER HAS NO BARRIERS. ”
